WATCH: the first LitFilmFest monthly winners!

Already this term, schools far and wide have blown us away with their writing and video efforts for LitFilmFest. If you haven’t downloaded the FREE KS2 literacy projects yet (and saved yourself a precious Christmas break in front of the laptop), what are you waiting for?

As primary teachers ourselves, not only do we want to improve your work-life balance, we want to provide literacy resources that we know inspire children to write with passion and heart. But don’t just take our word for it; the first monthly LitFilmFest winners are here. By simply filming and submitting their work through the LitFilmFest website, these KS2 classes had their writing brought to life with a professional YouTube Kids filming day in their very own school. We want your class to win too – get involved!

Meet our October winners:

Kitchen Kid, as featured on BBC GoodFood (Winning School: Bury C of E Primary). This 10 lesson unit combines the topic of healthy eating with instruction writing.

Pupil Parliament, supported by Houses of Parliament (Winning School: Castle Hills Primary): A 10 lesson unit combining politics, British values & report writing.

Masters of the Digiverse, supported by Adobe (Winning school: Halewood Primary): a 5 lesson project exploring online safety and balanced arguments.

 Change It, supported by Change.Org (Winning school: Oxley Park): this 10 lesson persuasive writing unit challenges pupils to tackle social or environmental issues and shows them the power of their own voice.

We were blown away by entries to our trailer category too – our shortest projects, supported by the Literacy Shed. Our selected winners were Wroxham School, for their Mythical Movie Trailer, and Springwood Primary, for their Frightful Film Trailer:

Simply download your chosen project at LitFilmFest.com, teach it and then don’t forget to submit it here for the chance to receive either a YouTube filming day or an invitation to watch your pupils’ efforts at the cinema! What’s more, any teacher submitting an entry to LitFilmFest will be offered the opportunity to receive a free Pobble account for the year, whereby you can publish and share your pupils’ writing to the whole world!
